The Appys 2010 winners announced

Congratulations to all those you won at The Appys awards last night in the Gibson Hotel, Dublin. The Appys is a new award ceremony that celebrates the innovation and creativity in the app development industry, and rewards their creators and developers.

According to Des Doris, organiser of The Appys:

“The app sector is now a fully-fledged and influential media category in its own right.

“You could say those who have ideas for apps are the ‘new authors’, the developers are the new editors and the development agencies the new publishers. With hundreds of thousands of apps to choose from across all the smart phone platforms, the [worldwide] app industry is valued at close to €7 billion in 2010, and it’s predicted the industry will be worth €18 billion by 2012 as smart phones become more ubiquitous.”
